Edexcel, a Pearson Company, is the UK's largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to schools, colleges, employers and other places of learning in the UK and internationally.

Edexcel’s general qualifications taken internationally include GCSEs, AS and A Levels, IGCSEs and O Levels; the vocational qualifications include NVQ and BTEC from entry level to Higher National Diplomas. 

In 2007, Edexcel delivered 9.6 million general qualification exam scripts in over 85 countries, 4.5 million of which were marked onscreen using the groundbreaking ePen technology, and enjoyed over one million registrations across 45 countries for its vocational portfolio.

The BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) from Edexcel    

BTEC is a suite of professional qualifications exclusive to Edexcel. Developed in collaboration with employers and learners, BTEC HNDs are designed to provide a specialist vocational experience.

For students who are interested in obtaining a more practical qualification which will provide them with a thorough grounding in key concepts and practical skills, the BTEC HND is the qualification of choice.

Additionally, because BTEC HNDs are established work-related qualifications with a proven track record of success, they are recognised by both employers and universities worldwide. Holders of a BTEC HND have the choice of progressing directly into employment or being granted exemption from the foundation years of an university undergraduate degree.

Some students also go on to obtain professional qualifications and are granted exemptions from certain areas of the course.
