About Edexcel
UED is pleased to announce its alliance with Edexcel, the leading provider of academic and vocational qualifications which meet the needs of learners at various levels from school children to senior managers.
Edexcel, a Pearson Company, is the UK's largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to schools, colleges, employers and other places of learning in the UK and internationally.
Edexcel’s general qualifications taken internationally include GCSEs, AS and A Levels, IGCSEs and O Levels; the vocational qualifications include NVQ and BTEC from entry level to Higher National Diplomas.
In 2007, Edexcel delivered 9.6 million general qualification exam scripts in over 85 countries, 4.5 million of which were marked onscreen using the groundbreaking ePen technology, and enjoyed over one million registrations across 45 countries for its vocational portfolio.
Ultimately, Edexcel’s aim is to always deliver a relevant, recognised, and rewarding learning experience. The only way to do this is by listening to stakeholders, learning from them, and working with them.
To this end, we collaborate with governments, employers, and training providers worldwide to develop qualifications and customised training suites which are delivered by our partners, such as UED. Moreover, all our qualifications are regulated by the UK government and must meet stringent requirements.
As a result of our dedication to high-quality education and our partners’ commitment and first-rate delivery, Edexcel qualifications are renowned and recognised by employers and universities across the world.
UED’s experts are invaluable in ensuring that the courses they deliver are:
- Up to date
- Relevant to the real world
- A valuable aid to career and academic progression
The BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) from Edexcel
BTEC is a suite of professional qualifications exclusive to Edexcel. Developed in collaboration with employers and learners, BTEC HNDs are designed to provide a specialist vocational experience.
For students who are interested in obtaining a more practical qualification which will provide them with a thorough grounding in key concepts and practical skills, the BTEC HND is the qualification of choice.
Additionally, because BTEC HNDs are established work-related qualifications with a proven track record of success, they are recognised by both employers and universities worldwide. Holders of a BTEC HND have the choice of progressing directly into employment or being granted exemption from the foundation years of an university undergraduate degree.
Regardless of the subject area, all BTEC courses involve real work experience and work-based projects. This means that the skills learned are the ones employers in all industries want and need. As a result, holders of a BTEC HND find themselves armed with a competitive advantage in the global work arena.
Some of the skills a BTEC HND provides are:
- creative problem solving
- planning and scheduling your work
- working independently or in a team
- applying complex theories to work-related challenges
- handling difficult work-related situations
- managing other people
- multi-tasking different projects
HND Opens the Door to Higher Education
Upon successful completion of a BTEC HND, you can progress into dozens of universities across the world including the UK, Europe, Australia, and the US. HND qualifications often allow you to go straight into the second or third year of your corresponding degree program abroad.
Some students also go on to obtain professional qualifications and are granted exemptions from certain areas of the course.
It is important to bear in mind that the above information is not specific to all universities since each institution will have it’s own admissions requirements. Therefore, it is the students’ responsibility to verify specific institutions’ requirements.
